Rowling's Harry Potter book series. The character is portrayed by Emma Watson in the films.

Hermione is a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is one of Harry Potter's and Ron Weasley's best friends. She plays an important role in many aspects of Harry's life, serving as a maternal influence on both Harry and Ron. Her birthdate September 19, 1979, makes Hermione the oldest of her classmates, as most were born in ca. late 1979/1980. Hogwarts only accepts first-year students who have turned eleven years old at the start of the school term on September 1. Therefore, Hermione was too young to join the previous class. She shows considerable maturity when compared to her close friends and classmates in both attitude and course work. However, she lacks maturity in other areas: she consistently responds negatively to Ron baiting her, generally cannot stand back and allow him to make a fool of himself, and has a tendency to bicker (generally flouncing off to bed if she is thwarted).

Hermione has brown eyes and, when she first appears, bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth. Many at the school have ridiculed her looks, including, on one occasion, Professor Snape. Hermione is very studious and can be bossy and fussy; she is one of the most intelligent students in her year and one of the best in the school. She is often teased for this, although Harry and Ron depend on her for academic help, and her knowledge and common sense prove valuable in overcoming the trio's challenges.

Hermione is brave and loyal and has a fierce political conscience, but sometimes has problems keeping her head in crises: one might note her problems in facing the Devils Snare in the first book (when told to light a fire, she memorably responds “There’s no wood!”, even though she had conjured magical flames earlier in the year), the unlikely lie she tells Professor Umbridge to save Harry in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (she claims that there is a weapon in the forest, created upon Dumbledore’s orders), and her failure to adequately subdue a Death Eater in the Department of Mysteries (she silences rather than stuns him, leaving him conscious, suggesting that in the heat of the moment, she forgot about non-verbal spell casting, despite evidence in the same book that James Potter knew of that in his Fifth Year at Hogwarts). Indeed, Hermione's intellect is strongest in memory and objective analysis, and less impressive when thinking on her feet. Although compassionate, she can be naïve and even insensitive when dealing with people, despite positioning herself as the "sensitive one" in the trio. For example, her ham-handed attempt to comfort Lavender Brown over the death of her rabbit. Screenwriter Steve Kloves has said that Hermione often shows "a complete lack of understanding of how she affects other people." According to Rowling, Hermione is deeply insecure and feels utterly inadequate underneath. To compensate, she tries to be the best at everything at school, projecting a false confidence that can irritate people.

Rowling admits that Hermione is in many ways based upon herself. Hermione's Patronus is an otter, which is Rowling's favourite animal. Hermione's middle name, Jane, (never mentioned in the books, only on Rowling's official site) is a feminine form of "John", as is "Joanne", Rowling's first name.

- from wikipedia.org

What's in a name: Harry Potter

I was searching the net last night about what my name means and its history, it came into my thoughts about what does the name "Harry" and "James" mean and where did they originated. These films and shows are produced simply for entertainment value and, for the most part, do not reflect the beliefs or practices of most Pagans/Wiccans. Cate Tiernan has also written a series of books called 'Sweep' which tell the tale of a teenaged girl named Morgan who discovers she has a natural aptitude for witchcraft. Again, these books are written for entertainment, and have little or no bearing on actual Wiccan practices.

Cornelius Fudge is expert in longbow (?)

It was said on a news that a Harry Potter character took a weekend off, and it was the Prime Minister Cornelius Fudge. These motion picture “giant” icons, like Richard Harris, were brilliant and alluring. Though topped by other actors during his time, Richard Harris could still show off a surprising side of his successful career. He remained a megastar in Hollywood at the age of 60.

He was honored two (2) Oscar nominations (36th Oscars, Performance by an Actor, This Sporting Life, 1963; 63rd Oscars, Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, The Field, 1990) one (1) BAFTA, one (1) Emmy nomination (TV Drama, The Snow Goose, 1971), and a Golden Globe win (Best Actor in a Leading Role-Musical or Comedy, Camelot, 1967)

He had starred in 75 movies and television productions including his first ever This Sporting Life (1958), where he won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival. To name the few of his other films, the Gladiator (2000), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), as he portrayed the role of a sympathetic wizard Albus Dumbledore, gave him a wondrous acclamation and an extended young legion of fans.

He was born 1st October 1930.

Sir Richard Harris, we truly miss.

OotP sets for wide-screen on 13 July 2007; 5th Potter book sold 7 million copies in UK and US during release date

The 5th book of the world-renowed series of JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, said to be showing on the 13th July 2007, according to Warner Bros., on 6th April 2006.

Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played the title role Harry Potter for the last four films signed to take the Potter act once again on this great, spectacular movie for next year. He achieved fame at the age of one when Lord Voldemort, the most feared wizard in the world, attacked his home, murdering his parents but failing to kill him, though leaving him with his instantly recognisable lightning-shaped scar. In the attempt, Voldemort was ripped from his body by his own backfiring Killing Curse. Harry's survival was shown later to be a result of his mother's love from him, and the fact that she died to save him.

At Hogwarts, Harry has shown himself to be a gifted wizard, excelling both at Defence Against the Dark Arts and Quidditch, along with being recognised as a capable leader within his house, Gryffindor, and the school in general. Despite his best attempts, he has been unable to downplay his fame and his inability to do so has at times been a source of great frustration to him, making him the target of unwanted media attention, rumours, gawking (chiefly at his scar) and the ire of professors and classmates alike. However, despite all external pressures, he remains overall courageous, noble, and high-minded, though at times these qualities have been shown to negatively manifest themselves in what Hermione Granger termed his "saving-people thing".

He is best friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione, and his enemies are Lord Voldemort, Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy. - www.wikipedia.org

Harry Potter is in at the Guinness World Records

The 4th instalment of the JK Rowling novels, the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire made it to the Guinness World Records.

It received the "Most Advanced Orders and the Largest First-Run Print", HPGoF (DVD cover presented on the right) had recorded advanced orders of 5.3 million copies from around the world.
